Out-of-Band Management: Kaseya Unveils Desktop Policy Management Featuring Intel vPro Technology
Kaseya, a provider of automated IT systems management software, has released its latest Desktop Policy Management, Kaseya KDPM 3.5, featuring Intel (News - Alert) vPro technology integration for out-of-band management and last mile remote management.
Combining the power of Intel vPro and Kaseya (News - Alert) technology, the new KDPM module offers a broad array of power management options including hard power options that will effectively pull-the-plug on a machine, even in a remote, completely frozen Windows client, a press release from the company said.
The solution allows IT administrator to “enforce corporate policy standards that ensure supportability and security,” the company said. In addition to offering new out-of-band management to last-mile remote management, Kaseya KDPM 3.5 offers improved security by centrally controlling important system settings and removing user interference with corporate governance.
Intel vPro capabilities are embedded in the hardware. These capabilities allow IT administrators to access and administer the hard drive, operating system and software application in the pre-boot environment, when issues happen in these areas.
"The Kaseya KDPM 3.5 module has delivered on the benefits of the Intel Core vPro processor with one easy-to-use, single pane of glass view," said Scott Brown, president of TimbukTech, in a statement. "Additionally, the new vPro features in KDPM 3.5 lower our costs and enhance our toolset.”
vPro allow IT administrator to remotely scan and automatically detect vPro capabilities on Windows machines through the Kaseya agent. This, according to company officials, saves time and a site visit to the Windows client.
KDPM 3.5 supports Intel AMT (News - Alert) management options. It reboots the Windows client into BIOS mode and remotely editing the BIOS. KDPM 3.5 also reboots the Windows client and connects to an ISO image to boot the machine. Further it connects to unresponsive Windows client - start a remote console session to diagnose a machine even if the OS has frozen or hung.
